Bristol Bay Summer | 2015-16 Alaska State Middle Grade Battle of the Books SelectionThe Alaska Association of School Librarians sponsors the 28th year of the state-wide Battle of the Books with the goals of engaging students' interest and motivation in reading.  The program provides a platform upon which teachers are able to guide student gains in reading comprehension.  Students select and read 12 to 15 fiction and non-fiction books, discuss them, answer quiz questions, and finally compete against other teams in the district.Juneau Author Annie Boochever Wins International Children's Book Award for Bristol Bay SummerLiterary Classics International Book Award and Reviews has announced its 2015 selection of top books for children and young adults and Juneau author Annie Boochever's BRISTOL BAY SUMMER (published by Alaska Northwest Books) was chosen as "Best in Category, Best First Novel".

 

 

Mom's Choice Award

The Mom's Choice Awards® has named Bristol Bay Summer as among the best in family-friendly media, products and services. The MCA evaluation process uses a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal, and cost. Not only did Bristol Bay Summer win, but the Alaska adventure book was given the highest seal of approval, the Gold Mom's Choice Award.

Award recipients were selected from entries received from around the globe. Literary Classics, an organization dedicated to furthering excellence in literature, takes great pride in its role to help promote classic literature which appeals to youth, while educating and encouraging positive values in the impressionable young minds of future generations. The Literary Classics judging committee is comprised of experts with backgrounds in publishing, writing, editing, design, illustration, and book reviewing. Judging is based upon the criteria set forth by Literary Classics’ highly selective awards committee which honors books promoting character, vision, creativity and learning, through content which possesses key elements found in well-crafted literature.

Boochever will accept her award at the The 2015 Literary Classics International book awards presentation to be held on April 2, 2016 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
